Agorsor pens RSL contract, will wear No. 13 kit

American youth product Chris Agorsor, a 20-year-old forward who dazzled spectators in his early days as a competitor, signed a contract with Real Salt Lake after several weeks on trial.

Speaking to ESPN 700, Real Salt Lake general manager Garth Lagerwey announced the signing of the exciting forward. Agorsor signed with Philadelphia Union in the MLS lottery draft in February but was released by the club in June. Real Salt Lake revealed on Twitter that Agorsor will be handed the no. 13 kit.

Chris Agorsor was a highly rated youth prospect and was named the Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year in 2008 during his senior year of high school at McDonogh High School in Owing Mills, Md. The prospect trained for a time with Manchester United and was reportedly courted by various European sides.

Injury setbacks hampered Agorsor’s early development, and Agorsor joins a long list of forwards on the Real Salt Lake roster, but it seems Jason Kreis and Lagerwey rate the prospect highly. He’ll have his first chance to make an impact when San Jose Earthquakes visit on Saturday, but it’s unclear whether he’ll be ready for the first team just yet.

Agorsor follows now-pundit Brian Dunseth and former RSL defender Ian Paul Joy in being handed the number 13 kit.
