I think we're still collectively reeling from defeat, but if there's one thing that's encouraging from our fans, it's that we're not panicking. There aren't calls to completely upheave the team and start again, there aren't calls to fire the manager, and there certainly aren't calls to boycott the club. By some standards, that's a pretty good response.
Seriously, though, the response has been encouraging. We'll now sit and wait as the off-season unfolds in front of us. Some of us will turn more attention toward England, Italy, Spain, France, Germany and other footballing nations. Others will simply watch another sport, or perhaps no other sport at all. But when March rolls around again, we'll all be joined together in some sort of unholy matrimony with swathes of Claret and Cobalt.
We should probably expect a few players to leave, and we can probably expect a few players to come in. There will be changes, and I'd imagine there are people at the club who feel they're necessary. We've got a stellar side, but we can't afford to have another heartbreaking season like this one. And it's not just been the end that was particularly heartbreaking, either — from the CCL final forward, it was like we'd been repeatedly slapped in the face by football.
No matter now, though. Things are soon going to be looking up.
Right, today's a bit of a short one. No news, no updates. The boys are going to be taking off for their vacations soon enough, and hopefully they all have a wonderful time.
Tomorrow, I'll name my Player of the Playoffs (for Real Salt Lake, I mean.) Today was perhaps a bit too soon for that, and I needed time to let it all seep in.
But today, I'll ask you: Who was your favorite player during this playoff run? We only had three matches, so if you can only give a half-answer, that's allowable.
'Til tomorrow, folks.
