It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster ride, hasn’t it? All that doom and gloom was getting a bit weary if I’m to be honest, so at this point, I will resign myself to hopefulness. I’ve only a short one for you today, but to be fair, there’s not much in the way of news, and analysis of the same match over and over seems a bit sadomasochistic, and that’s not something I’m too much into.
A few points, then, and I’ll let you be on your merry way:
- Our next home match is rapidly approaching. It may seem easy to give the team a bit of stick, but it would hardly be a useful act. That said, the fans at Rio Tinto are so often stellar supporters, and I don’t think it’s much of an issue at all. I only mention it because it’ll be all-important for the team to be given the support they desperately need at this point, especially if things go a bit upside down against Chivas USA on Saturday.
- On that note, Chivas USA looms in the distance. The return fixture in May saw one of the most horrific incidents in the short history of Real Salt Lake: That injury to Javi, the season-disrupting one. It’ll be interesting to see how the squad responds.
- Everyone will need to pick up their game against Chivas. Against Houston, nobody much had a game to write home about, garnering their own bits of blame throughout. With proper responses across the pitch, no matter the lineup, we should be right as rain.
- We’ll also need to keep our tactical shape on the pitch and not drop it to better fit personnel. It’s been custom tailored for the squad we’ve got, and we can’t go playing people who need that disrupted. Just a thought.
And that’s all I have for you at the moment. Perhaps, if I am inspired, you will see something new pop up — or, perhaps, if there is news, though I’d be at this point a bit surprised if there was.
‘Til tomorrow, then. Up the RSL!
