Los Angeles, ahoy! At our best, we needn't fear the Galaxy

·

Well, our wish for one last home match this season didn't come true, even though for one glorious half of football, it looked like me just might be treated to that. Never mind, though: We're going to face the LA Galaxy on their home soil, and you do remember what they say, don't you? To be the best, you really, really have to beat the best.

And beat them we shall! The Galaxy last night looked an immensely beatable side. While they'll like have that Juninho chap back in their side. Yes, I think that's the sound of collective shrugging I just heard. Oh, but perhaps they'll be without their golden idol, David Beckham. And there, I think, was the sound of a collective yawn.

At our best, we're a brilliant side. Remember, if you will, that we smashed the Galaxy at the RioT this season, and though we didn't do so well at their ground, it was in a terrible run of form that we faced them, and making judgments based on that alone would be awfully unwise.

See, we've got some positive factors that will carry over from our last match, mostly in the form of personnel. We've got Tony Beltran back, which is great, and our chances to bring one of the Borlave twins into the side increase by every day we spend at rest. (That home game would have been nice, wouldn't it?) Robbie Russell's looking good, and our midfield should be ready to actually, you know, play a match rather than be bypassed altogether.

One note: We're being widely accused of parking the bus against Seattle, and while I admit, we played a defensive game, it was forced by the very high line and pressure Seattle played. Combine that with the poor, poor passing from Chris Wingert (four passes completed… and he played 90 minutes) and you've got a recipe for a match like we saw. Accusing us of parking the bus ignores Seattle's tactics, ignores our faults, and does a disservice to both sides. It's the easy way out, that one.

Not much else today. I'll have a full-fledged (heh) match preview tomorrow, and hopefully we'll have some positive news on Borchers and Olave. That'd be nice, wouldn't it?

And if you're traveling with the fans to Los Angeles, do think about taking some photos and sending them our way. These Fan Photos are great fun!

Finally, I'm working up my off-season writing ideas list. If there's anything you'd like me to aimlessly ramble about, do comment and let me know.

Tomorrow, then. Come on you Claret and Cobalt!
