RSL in 100 Words or Less

RSL in 100 Words or Less is a new feature from the minds behind The RSL Show, Under The Crossbar and El Güero.

It is time for the wake to end.   RSL lost the last two matches (horribly) but time to stop dwelling on what happened.  Good teams win but great teams learn to find a way to win no matter what comes.  RSL is like Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.  They have shown us the good, the bad, and the ugly.  Currently we have a “…personality crisis… that’s what [we] got” (New York Dolls).  Now it’s time to fight as a collective:  fans, coaches, personnel, players, etc.   Let’s show LA that we are the Real Nation.

Running onto the field to attack the refs should never be condoned.  The problem is not just with the individual Wednesday at the RioT; security has to answer some questions.  The Brian Wilson (the pitcher, not the Beach Boy) look alike was allowed to enjoy time on the pitch by security.  There was a minimum of four personnel guarding the south end.  One followed him onto the field but the other three stayed behind in a huddle and laughed about it. To all parties involved, “Stop your messing around, better think of your future” (The Specials).

Watching The Orphanage is what I felt like on the night of September 28:  an emotional yo-yo covering happiness (player introductions), denial (the “he was provoked” Beckerman red card), anger (the “Hang Toledo” chants), bargaining (the “we can still win this if we play better”), euphoria (the arrival of the revered Javier), depression (the third goal), and acceptance (“let’s fight another day”).   This is also known as the RSL Nation’s loss to Chicago.  Yes, it was RSL Nation’s loss because the fans and the team are one, a family. “Unity, as one stand together” (Operation Ivy).
